NOAH DAVIS – Last night, Match Fit USA‘s Jason Davis was nice enough to have me as a guest on The American Soccer Show. We chatted about the 23-man roster, the fitness of the backline, and other issues as the United States Men’s National Team prepares to play Turkey on Saturday and then head to South Africa. Last year, Friend of 10 Kit Greg Lalas (currently editor-in-chief of MLSSoccer.com) and Rachel Markus founded Kicking & Screening, a multi-city film festival dedicated to the beautiful game. I caught a screening of Les Yeux dans les Bleus in Washington D.C.’s French Embassy last year, and it was an experience not to be missed.
The second annual New York edition takes place from June 1-5 with some excellent flicks. Nike stadium on Bowery will host the final night.

I’ve never actually gotten to go, since I live in places like Senegal and Guatemala, where festival founders Rachel Markus and Greg Lalas are yet to plan a go, but I’m told soccer’s own American film festival is well worth the (small) price of admission.

The mission of Kicking & Screening is to bring together soccer fans and cinephiles to celebrate the beauty and passion of soccer as captured and expressed on film.
Founded in April 2009, Kicking & Screening is the first film festival in the United States devoted solely to “the beautiful game.” From inspiring films to insightful panel discussions, K&S provides films and filmmakers with a forum to show and discuss their work and unites the fans who make soccer the international passion it is.
